We woke up early and enjoyed a healthy breakfast at Spoke Art Provisions & Co., lunch at the Old Shed Museum and a visit to the Historic Jamestowne Visitor Centre. There we can then rent bicycles and explore the nearby Virginia Capital Trail, which connects the colonial capital Williamsburg with the present capital Richmond. The road from Virginia into this historic triangle is the Virginia Parkway, a scenic 23-mile road completed by the National Park Service in the late 1950s that connects Jamerstown, Williamsburg and Yorktown. We finished our journey on the completely asphalted road that runs through the historic city of York Town, the former home of William and Mary, and covered it in less than an hour.
Signs along the way explain how the early settlers of Jamestown used the environment to help them survive in harsh environments, such as the harsh climate and weather conditions. We saw a number of historic buildings, especially one that once housed the former home of William and Mary, the Museum of the Old Barn and some other buildings.
